My Journey
I’m Tamsin, and I graduated in 2002 with a degree in Visual Arts, specialising in bespoke contemporary textiles. After 15 years of exhibitions, private commissions, and various teaching roles, I felt ready for a new direction in my work.
A transformative period of travel through Indonesia and India introduced me to the ancient practice and meditative power of mandalas. I was drawn not only to their intricate patterns, colours, and geometry, but also to the quiet stillness they evoke.
Over time, I discovered that the true essence of the mandala lies in its creation. In the act of drawing and painting these sacred forms, I found a meditative space — a portal to the soul. This inner connection has become the heart of my artistic practice.
My current work integrates sacred geometry and the structural harmony found in architectural forms. Each piece is hand-drawn and hand-painted using pencils, inks, and acrylics, with careful attention to symmetry, rhythm, and spiritual resonance.
Compelled to share the healing and creative power of mandala-making, I now host mandala art workshops in my studio in Whaley Bridge, nestled in the Peak District. These sessions invite others to explore mindfulness through creativity and to enter a flowing meditative state through repetition, pattern, and sacred geometry.
